The plan sets out a long-term strategy to plan properly for mineral and waste facilities in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Cambridgeshire County Council has to look at all the proposals and people have already had a chance to have their say on these draft suggestions. After extensive consultation, the draft recommendations (Preferred Options Plan) are now going to Development Control Committee on 4th September, and will then go to Cabinet on 26th September. After the draft plan has been looked at by.these committees, the County Council hopes to hold another extensive six-week public consultation from the beginning of November. This will not be the end of the process and we have included a draft timetable to explain it. At this time, the Council would welcome comments on its Preferred Options set out on the Draft Plan. We know you are interested in this issue: Minerals - Barrington Cement is an essential commodity in the construction industry and following the withdrawal of a much larger controversial scheme for a new kiln and related major quarry, a small extension to the Barrington Quarry is being recommended for inclusion in the plan in order to balance the chemical properties of the wider long-term mineral reserve.
