A meeting of Croydon Parish Council was held on Wednesday 20 September in the Reading Room at 8.00pm.

Apologies:      Mrs Straw - work commitments

Present:    Mr Wheeler, Mr Martin, Mr Hancock, Mr Wittey, Mr Sole, District Cllr Elsby and the Clerk.

Minutes:  of the last meetings, previously circulated, were agreed and signed.

Matters Arising:

Cemetery:  The re-application to replace the one lost by the Environment Agency is about to be sent in.  Cllr Elsby suggested that the Tree Warden at South Cambs District Council might be able to help with free hedging for the cemetery.

Village Matters:

Footpath Warden:  Details regarding reporting problems on the footpaths received from Cambs County Council and will be passed to Mr Jenkins by the Chairman.

Leaflets:  Costings for a plastic-coated wire rack or a wooden rack to put in the QA porch were exorbitant (in the region of £100).  Clerk has bought a plastic document wallet which may be suitable, temporarily, at a cost of £4-99.  Chairman to liaise with Michelle at the QA.

Correspondence:

CALC Workshops:  No interest.

Minerals and Waste Plan:  Includes the proposed expansion of Barrington works - the Chairman will put the information onto the website.

CALC Bulletin:  Distributed - includes grants available for training.

Review of Gypsy and Traveller Provisions:  Details on village website.

Revisions to Regional Spatial Strategy for the East of England:  Details on village website.

CALC:  Notice of EGM and change of constitution.  Meeting to be held at Bluntisham on Saturday 14 October.  No-one available.

CPRE: Leaflet about the amount of house building scheduled for this area.  To go into the QA distribution site.

Planning:

Crail Site:   It was suggested that if anyone does not like the cladding that has been used on the garage, they should contact the Planning Department.  Highways and Planning have been alerted regarding the possible boundary infringement and the bridleway’s disappearance under tarmac, and should come out to inspect it.  The work only commenced when the neighbour to one side of the site went on holiday for 10 days.  Clerk to ask for possible dates/times when Ms Garner would be available and arrange for a councillor (or representative) to attend.  Also ask her to bring the current site plans with her as there did not appear to be a set on site.  Comments on the site/planning process to be forwarded at a later date.*

Finance:

Bank:   Balance from the statement on 28 July 2006 is £620-12.  A cheque for £675-00, being the balance of the precept, was received and paid in.  A cheque for £58-75 for Moore Stephens audit fees was raised.  Proposed Mr Hancock and seconded Mr Sole - all in favour.

Items for next agenda:

Date of next meeting - Wednesday 18 October 2006 at 8.00pm.

As there was no further business the meeting closed at 8.45pm.

* Write to register Council’s disappointment with the whole planning process, which allows such eyesores to be built.  These are even worse now they are built than appeared on paper.
